De luchtuaart in het Japansche beger.
Verkeerde de Japansche militaire luchtvaart tot voor kort nog in
het tijdperk van de proefnemingen, thans wordt de behoefte gevoeld
om het vijfde wapen uit te breiden en te versterken. Reeds in het
vorige jaar werd de oprichting van een tweede luchtvaartbatal
jon toegestaan, terwijl thans op de begrooting voor het dienstjaar
1918—'19 twee nieuwe luchtvaartbataljons zullen aangevraagd
worden.
Ook heeft men plannen voor de oprichting van eene fabriek uit
sluitend voor het aanmaken van vliegmachines. Tot dusverre werden
vliegmachines en hunne motoren op kleine schaal vervaardigd in
de militaire werkplaatsen te Tokyo.
