tijdschrift opgenomen artikel: „The staff officer in the air". Merkwaardig
is daarin de volgende uitspraak:
The Royal Air Force argues that in a two-seater machine the observer
is "very much mis-named. He is not the observer but the gunner the
defender of both the pilot and himself. It is the pilot who observes. It is
far easier for the pilot to carry out this role, for he can guide the machi
ne where he will, while the observer must go where he is taken, and
though he can direct in a general sort of way, he is apt to be swept round
out of view just at the moment when he is most anxious to see a particular
part of the battle. A three-seater is now being experimented with. This
has one supreme disadvantage, lt is cumbersome and therefore vulnerable.
The Royal Air Force, therefore, considers that the most efficient results will
be obtained by flying a two-seater machine and making the pilot responsible
for observation." -
1919—1922 gevoerden krijg in Anatolië.
Coast Artillery Journal. October 1925. We vestigen de aandacht op een
vlot geschreven artikel van Major J. C. Haw over: „Antiaircraftdefence
