Halts. [Getallen worden niet gegeven
„On the halt being signalled, everyone when the force is not
in contact with the enemy, will at once halt and fall out on the
left side of the road. The signal for the halt will be given from
the head of the mainbody hoofdmachtl. Commanders of pro
tective troops will exercise their discretion as to halting at once
OR moving forward to occupy a position, which may be of more
tacti al advantage
short halt will be ordered soon after the column has started,
subseq lent halts being arranged at regular intervals at the dis
cretion of the commander of the olumn, who should let com
manders of units know how often they may expect halts and their
duration The notification of these arrangements is a matter of
rout.ne which should usually be arranged for in standing orders-
Halts are most useful when equipment can be removed to ease ihe
men, teams unhooked, and horses unsaddled".
lo adept existing regulations to local conditions,
2o save frequent repetitions in operation and routine orders.
