Militar Wochenblatt januar 1926. No. 27. Major Dr. Lothar Rendulic
bespreekt in „Maschinengewehrbataiilone" de Fransche organisaties, aan wie
hij het vermogen van zelfstandig optreden ontzegt.
Verder verschijnt het vervolg van „Beitrage zur Verteidiging dei Festung
Verdun im Jahre 1916."
The Field Artillery Journal Nov. -Dec. 1925 (vertraagd ontvangen).
Hierin is een belangrijke bijdrage van het artikel: „The place of the light
field howitzer in division artillery" door Major Maxwel Murray. Schrijver
dringt aan op het vervangen in Amerika van een batterij veldkanonnen per
afdeeling door een batterij lichte houwitsers.
In Time fire. A comparison of American and Foreign methods bespreekt
captain L Partlow de moeilijkheden verbonden aan de vuurleiding bij Gkt-
vuur en de methoden in verschillende landen te dien ojizichte toegejiast.
Ook vermelden we: „The battle of Bud Bagsak and the part played by the
mountain guns therein" van Major J. L. Collins. Hierin wordt de expeditie
tegen de Moro's op de Soeloe-archipel in 1913 beschreven, waarbij het berg-
geschut als infanterie-geschut dienst deed. Eenige goede panoramaschetsen zijn
toegevoegd.
Nuttige wenken voor het leggen en in stand houden van telefoonverbindin
gen geeft captain J. C. Hughes in „Wire installation and maintenance".
Hieruit vermelden we
No article that touches on telephone troubles in the army would be com
plete unless it mentioned the transmitter. In the handset, in 999 cases of trou
ble out of every 1000, there is nothing wrong with the transmitter button
(carbon granule chamber); and there are only two places 111 the United States
Army where they are equipped properly to care for that thousandth case.
One of these is Fort Monmouth and the other is the Signal Laboratory in
Washington. So many telephones have been rendered worthless because some
experimenter tried to take the transmitter apart, that the rule should be
repeated once again, „Leave the inside of the transmitter strictly alone.
