I want to thank the Stichting Vrienden. Generaal
Majoor Schulte, Colonel Kuppen, Mr. Gerard van
Putten, and Mr. Gerard Casius for this opportunity
to speak to you.
Today we will see the completion of four years of
work and financial donations by the Stichting.
I have been asked to speak about Gerard "Tub"
Bruggink, my father.
We know that the fact that this plane carries the
name of Tub is not the reason for the ceremony
today - today celeberates the transference of the
ownership of the plane from the Stichting to the KLu
MLM - but of course my brothers Eric and Simon and
the rest of our family are proud of Gerard.

Ik zal deze toespraak vooral in het
Engels maken. Ik hoop dat u mij
begrijpen kunt. In Twente hebben ze een
gezegde: "In Twente houden ze van een
kort gebed en een lange metworst"
Ik zal proberen mijn gebed kort te
houden.
I will first talk about the Militaire Willems Orde and
the Museum. Then I will talk about Tub Bruggink.
The Militaire Willems Orde is the highest award
given for bravery.
There are three words on the MWO
bravery or moed
leadership or beleid
and loyalty or trouw
During the war, ordinary men from farms and
cities did extraordinary things in the Indies and
demonstrated these three values.
